Fonville Morisey Agents & Managers Celebrate 10 Plus Years – Part 1!

Each February, Fonville Morisey hosts an Awards Breakfast celebrating the accomplishments of our Fonville Morisey family. Whether Sales Associates, Managers, FM Lending Loan Officers, etc. it’s the one day a year we gather together to thank them for all they do for their clientele and celebrate their accomplishments.

This year, Mother Nature prevented us from having our yearly soiree and as such, we’ve taken a different route. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing some testimonials from those who have achieved 10 years or more (right up to 35 years!) with Fonville Morisey. This week, we will focus on those who celebrated 10 plus years with our company and this is the first installment.

Fonville Morisey’s Beth Smoot – 2014 Finalist for REALTOR Magazine’s Good Neighbor Award

Beth Smoot The Green Chair Project FMRealtyReal estate agents really know their communities…and we’re not just talking about the statistics on home sales or home prices either. In order to best serve their clients, they need to know their communities inside and out, backwards and forwards, and every way in between. Many of our Fonville Morisey Sales Associates spend time in their Triangle communities volunteering for causes they support. We have one that not only volunteered but co-founded a fantastic organization when she and a friend saw a need that had to be met. Let us introduce you to Beth Smoot, Sales Associate with our Fonville Morisey Brier Creek office and Co-Founder of The Green Chair Project.

The Green Chair Project provides home furnishings donated from the community to families and individuals transitioning from difficult circumstances. The Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® saw the incredible good this organization was doing for the community and promptly nominated Beth and The Green Chair Project for the National Association of REALTORS® publication REALTOR® Magazine’s Good Neighbor Award for 2014. The Good Neighbor Award recognizes REALTORS® who volunteer to serve the needs in their communities and exemplify how REALTORS across the country give back to their communities.

We spent some time with Beth last week to talk to her about this nomination and learn more about the organization.

You Can Help The Green Chair Project THIS Week!

Once a quarter as a fundraiser for the organization they offer a retail sale event on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a preview event (for ticketed patrons) on the Thursday evening prior. This Thursday, September 11th will be the preview event (for tickets visit – TheGreenChair.org). Then, this Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th (from 10am-5pm) as well as on Sunday the 14th (from 1pm-5pm) will be the retail sale event open to the public. Some items you might find – brand new furniture, antiques, linens, estate items, etc. All proceeds help off-set the cost for operating expenses (think rent too – with over 28,000 sq ft of space, rent is very real to them!).

You Can Also Help Beth WIN an Additional $1,000 for Her Organization!

While the 2014 Good Neighbor Award finalists and winners will receive monetary awards along with their recognition, there is also a type of “fan-based” award for “Web Choice” based on the number of votes a Finalist receives on the realtor.com website. Vote for Beth! You can vote once per day for the duration of the contest. Visit this link to learn how – VOTE FOR BETH!

To read more about Beth’s nomination, check out this article by REALTOR Magazine – Refurnishing Lives.

For a lengthier documentary (about 12 minutes or so) on The Green Chair Project and all that it does for the community, we definitely recommend you check out this documentary produced by Angela Alford on Vimeo.

CONGRATULATIONS, Beth!

We’re rooting…and voting…for you.

Fonville Morisey Croasdaile Delivers BIG for “Stop Summer Hunger”

Our food drive for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina’s “Stop Summer Hunger” program ends today. Each week throughout our FM Stops Hunger collection, we have highlighted an office that delivered the most in donations for the previous week.

This week, we tip are hats to our Fonville Morisey Croasdaile office in Durham for their delivery of 474lbs of donations to the Food Bank’s Durham Branch. That’s just about 400 summer meals provided to the children in our communities who don’t otherwise get at least one or two hot nutritious meals a day thanks to the fact that school is still out (for many on the traditional school calendar).

Sales Associate Tonya Saleeby had this to say –

“Helping others is a huge part of what I do as a REALTOR®…..from helping them with their home purchase to giving back through food donations. It’s a win-win for everyone!!”

We couldn’t agree more.

FM Croasdaile Stop Summer Hunger 2014 FMRealty

CONGRATULATIONS FM Croasdaile!

Your office has certainly gone above and beyond to provide for these children. Thank you to all who donated for this very worth cause in our community!

Fonville Morisey Stops Summer Hunger With Food Drive for Food Bank CENC

by Lisa Sullivan, Digital Media Marketing Director

Stop Summer Hunger Food Bank CENC FMRealtyThe “job” of the successful Fonville Morisey Sales Associate is to assist buyers and sellers in the communities that make up The Triangle – Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and surrounding areas – with either the purchase of a new home or selling their current one, sometimes both. Whether that buyer or seller is an individual person or a family of four, the bottom line is we work with people every single day, people who may have at one time struggled with the choice to feed their families or pay their mortgages or who are perhaps struggling with that now and we just don’t really know it.

The bottom line is we care about the PEOPLE we serve. That is why we have partnered with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina as Social Media Ambassadors and why we are also embarking on an endeavor to Stop Summer Hunger in the Triangle.

The Stop Summer Hunger program (formerly Kids Summer Stock) is –

a community-wide food and funds drive held during June and July to provide the additional food needed to support the 300,000 children (and their families) on the free and reduced-cost school breakfast and lunch programs, as well as supporting our kids summer meals programs. For these children, no school means no meals.

Check out this graphic the Food Bank put together describing just exactly the plight of hunger in our community through their 2013 Impact Report –

2013 Hunger Impact Report Food Bank CENC FMRealtyImage used by permission.

Isn’t that staggering – over HALF a MILLION people in our community struggle with hunger every day and 1 in 3 are children. We could be serving some of these families and we just don’t know it.

How can you help?

We’re glad you asked. :)

Donate to our Fonville Morisey Stops Hunger Food Drive!

The Drive begins Monday, June 30th – Thursday, July 31st. Drop off the Food Bank’s Most Needed Items (remember, no glass!) at any of our 11 office locations throughout Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and surrounding communities.

Together we can FIGHT hunger in our communities.

To learn more about the Food Bank Stop Summer Hunger program (including how to make an online donation as well), please visit their official website. To learn more about the 2013 Impact Report, visit their blog – Hunger Matters.

Fonville Morisey Raises Over $27,000 for Triangle Komen Race for the Cure

by Lisa Sullivan, Digital Media Marketing Director

Triangle Komen Race 2014 FMRealtyThe Komen NC Triangle to the Coast Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure® brings thousands of people together for one common goal – to raise awareness & funds for Breast Cancer research and a cure. Over the last six years, our Fonville Morisey family has participated in this event because while we help families in our region purchase or sell their homes, we also know some of those families probably have also included someone who has battled breast cancer. Our own Fonville Morisey family isn’t immune to it either as we have had several of our own that can now say they are proud Survivors.

So, once again, in 2014 we gathered all 12 of our offices (Sales and Corporate), rallied the troops so to speak, raised funds and awareness for the efforts of our own Susan G. Komen Triangle affiliate. Some of our offices held various fundraisers throughout the last couple of months – “Cinco de Pinko”, a raffle for a hot air balloon ride, sweets and treats day at a local Wake Forest cupcake shop, wine, dine and give in Chapel Hill, bake sales, and we collectively held a “Rally Day” to keep the momentum going.

When all was said and done the Fonville Morisey team raised OVER $27,000.

We beat last year’s total of $22K.

The top fundraising team in our company-wide competition was our brand new Fonville Morisey Wake Forest office (with honorable mentions to our FM Chapel Hill and FM Lochmere sales offices). The individual who raised the most in donations was Kate Law, also of our FM Wake Forest office.

Then on Saturday, June 14th over 50 Fonville Morisey staff and Sales Associates, some with families, joined the thousands to walk/run on Triangle Komen Race Day. We’ve got a FULL gallery of images on our Facebook Page. Special thanks to BJ Barratt, Vickie Cardin, Leah Cooke, Louise Guemple, Kelly Mathews, Renee Smith, and Karen Turner for sharing their pictures with us!

You can also check out some fabulous photos from BJ Barratt, Sales Associate with Fonville Preston too.

Finally, we put a collection of images (with a video clip provided by Laura Pedersen – thank you!) together in this short video montage as well –

Thanks to all who participated, donated, and raised funds for this very worthy cause. Together, we were able to make a difference in our community!

Triangle Komen Race 2014 FMRealty Team

If you missed out, we hope you will join the Fonville Morisey team next year as we do it all again!
