Fonville Morisey Holds Triangle Komen Race for the Cure “Rally Day”

by Lisa Sullivan, Digital Media Marketing Director

For the past six years, Fonville Morisey has steadfastly raised funds and awareness for Breast Cancer research and a cure through our participation in the Triangle Affiliate of the Susan. G. Komen Race for the Cure. Our offices compete against each other in raising money for the cause as we as a collective team participate on Race Day as well. This year, we did something a little different to keep the momentum going…and momentum we got!

On Tuesday, May 20th we hosted a Komen Race “Rally Day. Offices that participated decorated, held office fundraisers, and had a short presentation by their Team Captains and/or Management Teams. Many thanks to the following Offices for their participation -

Whether bake sales or silent auctions, these offices collectively raised OVER $5200 to add to our overall Fonville Morisey Team goal!

Many offices have also held separate fundraisers throughout the last couple of months as well. In fact, our Fonville Morisey Preston office hosted a “Pinko de Mayo” event on Cinco de Mayo.

Fonville Morisey Career Development Offers Discount to Military Personnel

Contributed by Sharon Pelt, Vice President of Career Development

“It doesn’t matter what kind of company you are or what industry you’re in, veterans have the skills that you’re looking for,” said Lisa Rosser, CEO and founder of The Value of a Veteran, a human resources consulting and training firm. ~ From the Forbes article – Military Vets Bring Talent, Leadership to the Work Force

We couldn’t agree more.

Fonville Morisey Career Development is pleased to announce that we are offering a discount on our pre-licensing courses for all active duty and retired military personnel.

Garner Veterans Memorial FMRealty

With the war in Afghanistan winding down, it has been estimated that by the end of the year some 220,000 service personnel will be flooding the job market. With a still struggling economy it may be difficult for many to transition to new careers.

For some, a real estate career may be a great fit. For others, just having the opportunity to take a real estate course may be a stepping stone to other opportunities.

In the month of May when we pause to honor those service members who will never come home, we want to reach out in some small way to help those who are returning and seeking to rebuild their lives.

For more information on a real estate career, or how to sign up for a class and receive the discount, please visit FMSchool.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Fonville Morisey Participates in Professional Clothing Drive to Benefit Durham Rescue Mission

The following contribution is from Fredrick Yebuah, Sales Associate out of our Fonville Morisey Falls Office. Thank you for organizing this project and sharing your story, Fredrick!

FMRealty Clothing Drive Durham Rescue Mission

From November 1st through the 18th, Fonville Morisey is holding a clothing drive consisting of gently used professional business attire that will be donated to the men and women the Durham Rescue Mission serves.

While attending the Christian Community Development Association national conference in New Orleans in September, Fredrick met fellow Triangle resident and the Durham Rescue Mission’s Executive Director, Reverend Ernie Mills. Upon returning from the conference, the two met again and discussed the needs of the Mission. One of the areas noted in that discussion was a clothing drive, but not just any drive. Rather, a professional clothing drive.

Program participants are required to wear business attire. Reverend Mills explained the positive effects of professional dress upon actions, outlook, and attitudes in that when program participants start to see themselves in a different light, transformation begins. The requirement also adds a layer of discipline and accountability and prepares participants for professional work environments.

As Fredrick states -

“The Durham Rescue Mission provides shelter for over 400 homeless men, women, and children. It also provides vocational training and job placement, among other program resources. This project correlates to what we do here at Fonville Morisey, so it seemed fitting that our company embrace it. Thanks to Fonville Morisey’s agents and employees for their generosity in giving to such a great cause.”

The Durham Rescue Mission is Durham’s oldest and largest long-term homeless shelter providing food, clothing, permanent supportive housing, vocational training, Biblical counseling, job placement, education, accountability and more to broken men, women and children in the Triangle. Their doors are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As they are a nonprofit organization as well, they completely rely on the gifts and volunteer efforts of individuals and organizations around the community. They do not receive any local, state or federal government funding.

Time to clean out your closets!

ProfessionalAttireGently used professional attire for men and women can be dropped off at the following Fonville Morisey Sales Offices – Fonville Morisey Chapel Hill, Fonville Morisey Croasdaile, Fonville Morisey Falls of the Neuse, Fonville Morisey Inside the Beltline, Fonville Morisey Lochmere and Fonville Morisey Preston.

Remember, we’re accepting donations from November 1st – November 18th!

We thank you for helping us help our fellow citizens in the Triangle through this effort. And special thanks to Fredrick for leading the charge!

Repost: Our Tribute to 9-11 First Responders

Flag Wake County NC FMRealtyIt’s the 12th Anniversary of the tragic events that took place in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania on September 11, 2011. On this day every year, we reflect not only on the tragedy of the thousands of lives that were taken that day and the heroes that did their best to overtake the hijackers of the four aircraft involved, we also reflect on the First Responders, many of whom also gave their lives unselfishly to save others. In fact, we celebrate First Responders everywhere.

On the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 two years ago, we produced this video of many of our Fonville Morisey family of employees and Sales Associates who shared their memories and/or their thoughts of the day. A few of our Sales Associates were there in New York on that day, a couple are prior military, and several had friends or family affected by the events while others just wanted to share how we in the Triangle community responded in the days after the tragedy. It’s an 8-minute long video but it’s still so moving and so touching to hear and remember, so that we will never forget.

Here’s to our First Responders everywhere. We salute you!

Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina “Stop Summer Hunger” Program – 500K Meals Short

But there’s still time!

As a proud Social Media Ambassador for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, we got word today that their annual summer campaign – Stop Summer Hunger – is 500,000 meals short of its goal of 3 Million meals this summer. The campaign runs June 1st – July 31st. That means the organization only has six days left to meet the goal…and you can help!

Donate funds or food by visiting the main Stop Summer Hunger webpage and clicking the appropriate button that works best for you.

That’s it. That’s all you need to do!

For the past two summers, Fonville Morisey, has raised more than 5,000lbs in non-perishable food donations thanks largely to the efforts of each of our 11 branch offices. This September, we’re participating in their 24-Hr Telethon as part of Hunger Action Month.
