It’s that time of year! While our Sharon Kowitz shared her thoughts on a “Staycation” in the Triangle in our last post, we’ve spread our wings with our Fonville Morisey Inside the Beltline office as they share some of their favorite vacation spots and summer camps for the kiddos. Take a look!
A Beach House on the Coast
Seems everyone you talk to in North Carolina enjoys the beach. Ask them where they are going for vacation and you’ll most likely get, “Oh we’re heading to the beach!” It’s a staple for many Carolina families. Our Cindy and Lewis Penny had this to say -
“My favorite vacation spot is our beach house at Atlantic Beach. Seeing the water and having our kids and grandbabies there makes it awesome!”
However, if they do get away…off the beaten path…their favorite place to visit is the British Virgin Islands and sailing amongst them. That locale is just heaven!
A Day at the Beach
From Administrative Assistant Amber Faulk -
We love the convenient location here in Raleigh. We can hop in the car on a sunny morning and be dipping our feet in the gentle Atlantic surf within 3 hours. We enjoy heading over to Wrightsville Beach. We often pack a picnic lunch; other times we splurge on our favorite lunch plates at Oceanic. No day trip to the coast would be complete for us without a stop at Luna Pops in Wilmington. We can be back home, sun kissed, and relaxed by dinner. There’s no better therapy to me than sand between my toes!
Head to Raven Rock State Park
For many of our folks, Raven Rock State Park in Lillington is a great day trip. With hiking, boating, and camping available too if you decide to stay overnight, there is just so much to offer for a summer day.
Summer Camps for the Kiddos
Several of our agents and staff members love the camps offered for kids. Whether it’s a nature, basketball, or even golf camp, there’s something for every youngster!
“My kids use to really enjoy City of Raleigh – Camp Ranoca…at Durant Nature Park and they also had one at Umstead State Park when the kids were little; not sure if it’s still there now. They used to also have a bus that would take the kids from Jaycee Park…out there and back every day…very convenient. My boys loved it because it was like “sleep away camp” with the lake, canoes, swimming in lake, arts and crafts hut, nature trails, ..etc….but without the sleep away part.” – Cynthia Parker
Sheri Hagerty’s kids LOVE Coach Ledford’s basketball camp at Hayes Barton Baptist too!
Amber’s son also really enjoys the Junior Golf Camp at River Ridge Golf Club in Raleigh. They also have a Junior League with tournaments throughout the summer as well.
What are some of your favorite vacation destinations or summer camps for kids? We’d love to hear about them! Please leave a comment below.
