Tax season is over and we venture to guess many of you have documentation that is ready to be shredded.
Identity theft is nothing to joke about. The US Federal Trade Commission received upwards of 250,000 complaints about identity theft in the year 2010 alone. In fact, according to the Commission -
The main cause of the identity theft was benefits fraud, with people stealing a person’s identity to obtain federal benefits. Credit card fraud, phone and utilities fraud were also major contributors. (from Security Technology News, Sept. 2011)
As real estate agents, transactions involving highly sensitive material are common in our business. Whether it’s loan closing documents, listing agreements, what have you, we know that everyday our clients put their identities in our hands. As such, we understand the importance of properly disposing of confidential documentation, especially that which is highly sensitive.
Fonville Morisey’s Inside The Beltline office is hosting a shredding event THIS Saturday from 10am-11:30am to assist our clients and the community with the disposal of their confidential documentation.
In fact, Fonville Morisey is so serious about protecting your confidential information that if you’re closing on a loan, our Guaranty Title offers new “KeyDocs” technology. We give our clients the convenience of digitally storing their closing documents in one small place, a USB flash drive that carries everything needed for a successful closing.
On top of offering to dispose of your private information, Fonville Morisey ITB is also asking for donations to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina for their annual Kids Summer Stock program. We know that’s coming up soon too so why not get started!
So…grab your boxes of documents and come on out to FM ITB this Saturday from 10:00am-11:30am. Let us help you while you help our community by bringing donated items for needy families in the community. It’s a win-win for all!
Special thanks to FM Lending and Guaranty Title for supporting this initiative.
