It’s been just over two years since the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti killing over 230,000 people and leaving over a million homeless. Aid to the country has made some progress. Sometimes it’s the smaller charities that tend to make a BIG impact.
Fonville Morisey Preston Sales Associate, Cathy Jeffries, will be traveling to Haiti this month with local nonprofit, House of Joy out of Wendell, North Carolina. Their mission is to install a water purification system and they’ll be conducting hygiene and sanitation training for the community they will be assisting as well. A last minute opportunity arose to ship shoes to Haiti with this group.
Fonville Morisey Preston stepped up to contribute to her request for shoes. Along with other community groups, a total of 249 pairs of shoes were collected!
Best wishes on a safe trip to Cathy and the volunteers with House of Joy. We look forward to hearing all about their success when they return!
Special thanks to Diane Donnelly and Cathy Jeffries for contributing to this piece.
