Though the morning of December 10th had a chilly start, for many of our Fonville Morisey Highway 54 Agents and Staff, it proved to warm up just nicely as they spent the day collecting non-perishable food items for the Agape Corner of Durham.
A yearly tradition, giving to the Agape Corner means more than collecting items for this wonderful organization. Rather, it has become Fonville Morisey Highway 54s mission to give back to Agape…and every year the donations keep coming!
Agape Corner is a Christian boarding school located in Durham, North Carolina and their mission is to -
help broken children rebuild their lives. We believe that healing and new life are possible for all, even those who are most wounded. (from the Agape Corner brochure and website)
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Agape Corner relies on the generosity of private donors for their tax-deductible contributions to their ministry. They do not rely on federal or state money to operate the organization. It’s because of their mission and Fonville Morisey Highway 54s desire to give back to the community, that they choose to collect non-perishable items during the Christmas season to assist with the expense of operating such a needy organization as a way to get them started for the coming year. Cases of paper towels, nourishing foods, laundry detergent and the like go a long way for them!
Take a look at the video below of delivery day on December 12th. Hear from the staff and the kids too!
Special thanks to Harris Teeter at Hope Valley Commons for providing the space for collections and to Logan Carter and Michael Newport for allowing us to interview you.
If you’d like to assist the Agape Corner boarding school, please visit their website. If you are unable to financially contribute, they are always looking for volunteers, weekend host families, or vocational training.
Kudos to the team at Fonville Morisey Highway 54 for a successful collection and distribution for Agape Corner. You made your community proud!
